Taco Loco, Newport Beach CA

I have always enjoyed getting Mexican food by the beach. There is something special about the flavor of Mexican taquerias by the sea. The food seems fresher, the lines are filled with surfers, and the beans and rice are free of lard and extra grease. Baja style is a must for vegans, and luckily Taco Loco provides many vegan and vegetarian options.
Jamari & Urijah’s favorite dish is the veggie fish burger. In between a bun and all the condiments the veggie fish is vegan and spiced well. it comes with a side of rice or chips like all of the meals. one of their most popular items is the roasted potato taco. Simple but cooked just right, these warm tacos really hit the spot after long beach days. We just wish that were bigger and less expensive. At 2.75 per taco, you’ll need at least three to start feeling full.

Another vegan option is the black mushroom and tofu burger, taco, or salad. During our last visit, I ordered the ½ size black mushroom taco salad. The mushrooms were  tender and grilled perfectly along with tasty guacamole and salsa, I just wished there was more of it. Not having enough food is our biggest complaint about this place- we just never seem to get full! But we do appreciate the vegan cookies and brownies they offer, and the prices, especially for Laguna Beach are very reasonable.

We enjoy sitting outside watching the people pass by, and the beach is literally across the street. a few blocks from the taco shop is a music/cultural shop and one of my favorite coffee shops, the Koffee Klutch. Taco Loco is definitely worth eating at even if it’s just to try a taco in one of the most beautiful beaches in CA.
